German Federal Film Fund (DFFF) and German Motion Picture Fund (GMPF) The DFFF and the GMPF a key elements of financing for many German and international producers. This film-funding schemes of the Minister of State for Culture and the Media (BKM) with an annual budget of € 150 million provides a reliable foundation for producing films which are both critically and commercially successful. The DFFF offers two funding programs: The DFFF I applies to producers of projects with total production costs of up to €20 million, producers can receive a non-repayable grant up to €4 million. Production service providers hired to produce a film/film sequence for projects with total production costs exceeding €20 million are eligible to apply for DFFF II. Projects can be funded with a non-repayable grant up to €25 million. The GMPF funding is available for fictional or documentary TV& series and feature films. The minimum production costs must be as followed: fictional series with a minimum budget of €30,000 per minute or € 1.2 million per episode and € 7.2 million per season, documentary series with minimum production costs of €9,000 per minute or € 360,000 per episode and € 1.65 million per season, with a per-minute price of € 7,000, VoD films must have a total production cost of at least € 25 million. The amount of the grant is based on the approved German production costs and is capped at € 2.5 million. For series, a grant of up to € 4 million can be awarded.
